Disadvantages
of using social networks
Since their
creation, social networks have helped us in different ways to stay connected
with other people, whether they are acquaintances or strangers. But there comes
a point in which social networks only mean problems, and these can be of
different aspects such as:
- They create an unrealistic view of the world.
This is
because people use them to show how good life is. Adding so-called influencers,
we will get a picture where only images of the perfect life will be shared on
Facebook or Instagram. This can distort reality and cause dissatisfaction,
unhappiness, and even depression for those who do not live as described below.
- Loss of privacy
Some people
do not realize that anything uploaded on the Internet can remain on the
Internet for life. In addition, anyone can see the scene or private
information. You should be very careful about the information you share on
social networks.
- They create dependency
Research
has begun to expose, confirming the addictions that social networks can cause,
including anxiety and depression. If you cannot access these applications for
any reason, the addiction caused by these applications can cause stress.
- Loneliness
Thanks to
social networks, feeling that someone is with you at all times is just an
unrealistic feeling, because you can connect with people thousands of miles
away, but you are alone at home. I've seen couples having dinner in a
restaurant, looking at their phones, and not talking.
- Waste of time
Last but
not least, there is the time you spend on social networks, since the average
time of daily use is 5 hours and 18 minutes, which is almost 22% of the day
dedicated to this type of application. Do you know how much time you spend on
them?
